Andrew Lennard joined the Rowing Club as Head Coach in Fall 2025. A program builder with 15 years in collegiate rowing, Lennard founded Oklahoma State University Crew and, as Director of Rowing for seven years, grew it from a start-up to more than 60 active athletes. He previously coached at Michigan State University and the University of Cincinnati, working across novice development, varsity crews, and team operations.

Mike Burroughs started rowing in 2010 when an injury forced him to give up playing tennis. By 2011, he started coaching juniors for the Indianapolis Rowing Center, and in 2013, he took over as the junior head coach. Over the subsequent 11 years, Mike not only competed as a master's rower but also coached both junior and master's athletes. During that period, Mike coached numerous crews to top 10 finishes at Youth Nationals, US Club Nationals, Head of the Charles, and had crews competing at U19, U21, and U23 trials. Several athletes he has coached have gone on to represent the US in international competition.

Brie Stark started rowing in 2008 and transitioned to coxing in 2009. She was captain of Bryn Mawr College Crew, then joined Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club. During her four-year stint in England, she coxed collegiate and Masters rowers from numerous European clubs. She is currently a Midwest-based referee with US Rowing, officiating Junior, Collegiate, and Master events. She’s coxed in some of the biggest races in the world, including Henley Royal, Head of the Charles, and Head of the River (London) regattas. She integrates her academic training in neuroscience and language science into improving coxing communication and rapport.

Todd Gocken began his rowing career in 1991 as a founding member of the rowing club at Wabash College. He continued competing with Lincoln Park Boat Club in Chicago, eventually transitioning into coaching and serving on the club’s board of directors.
From 2010 to 2017, Todd held program director positions with the Chicago Training Center Juniors Program, Northampton Community Rowing, and the University of Illinois Rowing Teams. In these roles, he developed successful recruiting and fundraising initiatives while coaching novice and varsity athletes at the junior, collegiate, and master’s levels.
In 2018 Todd joined the University of Michigan Men’s Rowing Team under Head Coach Gregg Hartsuff, initially serving as an Assistant Varsity Coach and transitioning to Associate Head Coach and Novice Coach from 2022-2026. At Michigan, Todd developed multiple novice squads that earned medals at the national level and contributed to Michigan’s continued success as one of the nation’s premier collegiate club rowing programs. In recognition of his coaching, Todd was named the ACRA Assistant Coach of the Year in 2023.
Originally from Champaign, Illinois, Todd now lives in Bloomington, Indiana, where he continues his work in rowing and teaches for the Monroe County Community School Corporation.
