"I don't know how to row. Is that okay?"
Absolutely! The majority of collegiate club rowers have little to no experience in rowing before arriving on campus. We take students from all athletic backgrounds.
"When is the rowing season?"
Rowers train year-round with racing seasons in the fall and spring and a winter conditioning season inside on Concept 2 Ergs (rowing machines).
"Can I balance rowing and academics?"
Our rowers are student-athletes, putting "student" first with a focus on high performance both on the water and in the classroom.
"What is the time commitment?"
Our team practices 5–6 days a week, usually from 5:00-7:00pm. While it’s a serious commitment, practices are structured to fit into a student’s academic schedule. We understand life gets busy — communication and time management are key.
"Is there a cost to join?"
Yes, there are dues to help cover equipment, race entry fees, and travel expenses. However, we work hard to keep costs as low as possible and offer fundraising opportunities to offset expenses. Financial support may be available for those who need it.
"What is the difference between club and varsity?"
Varsity rowing is NCAA-sponsored and often recruits experienced high school athletes. Club rowing is student-led and open to anyone willing to work hard, regardless of prior experience. We still train and compete at a high level, including at national events.
